Goans worldwide converged in the Dutch town of Amersfoort where a group of Goan musicians introduced Konkani music to the European stage at the Rabobank Amersfoort Jazz Festival. It was history in the making as the Indian delegation comprising of the noted performers the Monsorate Brothers, Sidhanath Buyao, Olavo Rodrigues, Veeam Braganza and Yatin Talaulikar showcased Konkani music to the world through a series of shows held over the weekend. The Goan delegation presented their art on a common stage along with musicians from Thailand, Kosovo, Russia and other nations.
Commissioner for NRI Affairs Eduardo Faleiro informed that ‘Ekvott’, a group of Goan artistes based in Portugal formed more than two decades ago, has been invited to perform in the state as well as country in the month of June. The group consists of about 20 musicians, singers and dancers. They will perform in Panjim on 3rd June, in Margao on 4th June. Ekvott will also perform in Bangalore on 7th June, Mumbai on 9th June and on 11th June in Delhi.

Saibhakti, a Konkani album of devotional songs by Borkar Productions and Publication was released By Goa Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Vijai Sardesai in Margao on Thursday. Speaking at the release, lyricist Sanjay Borkar said, “Sidhanath Buyao’s Sasaay album of devotional songs inspired me to do Saibhakti.”
